Samuel the Utahnite
I too seem to be getting 'opposition' from Cult members.
ReplyDeleteThe strange thing is, I am just telling everybody what the church leaders really believe and teach amongst other things and they get mad at me!
I have even been warned by Priesthood holders? lol
Its absolutely laughable and yet horrendously frightening that these LDS men really beleive in what they are saying and that they have 'Authority'and 'Power'???
The reality is these LDS Priesthood Leaders are no different from Voodoo Practioners in the African Countries.
They have just the same 'power' and 'authority' as The Voodoo Priesthood which amounts to NOTHING except what anyone stupid, bullied or mind conditioned enough to allow them to get away with.
Sam:
ReplyDeleteI don't believe anything you say, not even about yourself. If you are as old as you prophess to be, you are definitely immature, stuck in the mind of a 13 year old boy who thinks it is 'cool' to bully and to cuss about every other word.
Also, if you really were LDS, you know the difference between the Prophet and Warren Jeffs and that the LDS and FLDS are not even remotely the same church.
These lies that are the "truth" are LIES. Why do you spend your time and energy criticizing the LDS church when you could be investigating other religions to find the "truth", and then spend your time professing that religion? Why not work for Good and not Evil?
Why bother the people who actually believe? Maybe I should start a blog about the truth about the lies that you profess to be the truth?
Also, the Church is financially independant. They do not recieve, nor would not accept any monetary assistance from the Government.
You should learn the definition of cult. The LDS are not a cult, and are not fanatic. Our point is not to say "Join or go to hell." Our point is to offer everyone the chance to accept the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
We believe that through the Atonement of Christ ALL mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.
We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adams TRANSGRESSION.
We belive that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are first, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Second, Repentance, third, Baptism by emersion for the remission of sins, Fourth, laying on of hands, for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
We believe that a man must be called of God by prophesy, and by the laying on of hands, by those who are in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
We believe in the same organization that existed in the primitive church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangleists and so forth.
We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
We believe all that God has revealed, all that he does now reveal, and we believe that he will yeat reveal many great and important things pertaining to the kingom of God.
We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and recieve its paradisiacal glory.
WE CLAIM THE PRIVILEGE OF WORSHIPING ALMIGHTY GOD ACCORDING TO THE DICTATES OF OUR OWN CONSCIENCE, AND ALLOW ALL MEN THE SAME PRIVILEDGE, LET THEM WORSHIP HOW, WHERE, or WHAT THEY MAY.
We believe in being subject to Kings, Presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
We blievbe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men, indeed we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul - We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things, if there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
None of what you write is uplifting. We can worship how where or what we may. The LDS church has gone through a lot of persecution and attacks from people like you who profess the "truth". If it wasn't true, then why would thousands die crossing the plains? Why would so many die in the hands of murderers, and why would so many live and work together to bring the world the Lord's truth?
This is to Nicole:
ReplyDeletePlease consider the change to the Introduction to the Book of Mormon. Read D&C 28 on who God said the Lamanites are, then examine what FAIR has to say about this being only Joseph Smith's choice of words.
In simple terms, an effort is being made by LDS "scholars" (and I use that term loosely) to merge science and religion. By conceding that indigenous people were in North America before the BoM events, the science of up to 50,000years ago comes into play.
Next, examine Duane Jeffery's writings and the subject of pre-adamites.
The apologetics who push for the Meso-America theory and with the into change, bring back all of the pre-adamite nonsense of the 19th century that cranial studies, etc. led to the American Indian being less than human.
One interesting aspect of science and religion is to suggest that the rise of civilization in the middle east beginning about 8,000 years ago corresponds with Adam, while admitting that there were pre-humans before then.
This is a major factor in choosing meso-america, because the ruins there indicate to simple minds a civilization. Again, the indidenous in North America were "savages".
The racism being implied in this nonsense is sickening. And it is real.
Consider the state and federal tax dollars that go to the FLDS communities, even though mayors, schools superintendants, and police cheifs are well known to be fathering children with multiple women (contrary to the Utah State constitution). Now ask why it was only ten years ago that the Navajo finally got a highschool built on their reservation? And even now, attendance is less than what it should be because the roads are unfit for buses to get to the children. Utah will fund the FLDS, but does not promote the American Indian with funding necessary.
The change to the intro screams of racism.
In closing, hello Elder Joseph, and keep at it Sam.
One more thing that I do not understand, Sam, is this: If you don't believe Mormonism, why use a name like Samuel the Utahnite or quote D&C?
ReplyDeleteAlso, the LDS church has helped many Native Americans, and especially in the 1900's helped to send them to school, and still helps them with the Perpetual Education Fund.
Utah funding the FLDS has nothing to do with the LDS it is a state matter. The fact that the Navajo didn't have a high school for a while is not connected to the LDS Church. While Mormons are in government, there are non-Mormons, and the LDS church does not directly affect the governmental procedures.
Also, you do not "piss [me] off", as you stated in your post. I am not angry, just highly dissapointed that instead of looking for something true, you continue to be a "Devil's Advocate". But, no, you don't "Piss [me] off".
Also to "Elder Joseph": How do you 'know' what church leaders 'really believe'. It is interesting to me that you, being the minority, are the one that knows what LDS leaders believe, when a much bigger majority than you, including other religions see it much differently.
Also, to you both, I love debate, and so I'm not angry, I just love a good chance for rebuttals and points. ;)
Nicole, get a grip. The largest massacre in the westward expansion of the United States occurred near Preston Idaho, and the leader of Cache Valley called it divine intervention. Does your god condone taking infants from their mothers, holding them by their feet and swinging them into trees to crush their skulls?
ReplyDeleteThe placement program you refer to removed children from their cultures and destroyed lives. The federal government finally established the American Indian Child Welfare Act to bring things such as this to an end.
Utah funding the FLDS is done with Utah citizen's tax dollars. Shouldn't LDS citizens be as concerned about that as about the issue of gay marriage? Also, remember that the governor is the son of an LDS general authority emeritus.
The fact that the Navajo did not have a high school until barely ten years ago is much more significant than your words "for awhile" and it is disgusting, as is your careless disregard for the situation. Joseph Smith taught that the western tribes were the Lamanites. Now the introduction to the BoM suggests not. If the LDS really cared about the "Lamanites" a public school and roads for buses would have been a priority. Politics from the pulpit did not and does not occur concerning the American Indian, as it has with the issue of gay marriage.
The lie and fantasy of central america leads foolish minds to believe that the horse in the BoM was a tapir. This animal is only about three feet tall, nocturnal, more like a pig in appearance, killed five or more dogs during Spanish captures of it, and one bit the arm of a zoo keeper. It hides underwater, and feeds on river bottoms like a hippo. There is no evidence that it was ever used in the pre-columbian era as a draft animal, let alone to pull chariots or be ridden. The suggestion that this creature might have been the BoM horse is absurdity.
Finally, examine the current topics at FAIR concerning evolution. The idea of pre-adamites and co-adamites is the foundation of white supremacy. Read some of the nineteenth century publications about this after Darwin's works were published. Joseph Fielding Smith was adamantly opposed to these teachings, but so called scholars, under the claim of being apologetic, are discrediting Joseph Fielding Smith and even denying other prophets and the D&C words of the savior. This is happening within the LDS church, by it's members.
Don't perpetuate lies about the American Indian being better off because of the LDS. The BoM sentiment has shifted to central america and the change to the introduction leaves the north american indigenous people in a position to be considered co-adamite. (Not children of Adam and Eve). LDS history is undergoing revisionism by apologetics. Changes such as these are nothing but harmful, just as previous LDS prophets had taught.
To Sam, I hope you don't mind me joining on your blog. I found the dance hilarious and symbolic of the nonsense between "bridge building" with polygamists while trying to separate the LDS from the FLDS in the eyes of the public.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Nicole thought it was you quoting from the D&C, she did not see my screen name MM.
Anyway, thanks for the laugh and for letting me post.
To Nicole
ReplyDelete"Also to "Elder Joseph": How do you 'know' what church leaders 'really believe'."
I know what church leaders really believe because they taught it!
It's in your own history and recorded in numerous LDS publications.
You can easily find them.

ReplyDelete"Also, if you really were LDS, you know the difference between the Prophet and Warren Jeffs and that the LDS and FLDS are not even remotely the same church."
"These lies that are the "truth" are LIES"
Name a single lie that Sam has written, BITCH!!!
Oh yeah? What doctrinal difference can be found between FLDS and 19th century mormonism?
"Why do you spend your time and energy criticizing the LDS church when you could be investigating other religions to find the "truth"
No religion has "the truth."
"Also, the Church is financially independant."
We don't know that because LDS Inc REFUSES to release financial statements.
"You should learn the definition of cult. The LDS are not a cult, and are not fanatic."
Hmm, LDS Inc employs nearly every single cult mind control tactic. Does that not make it a cult?'
"None of what you write is uplifting."
None of what is written about the Holocaust, Hitler, Saddam, Mao, Kim, or Stalin is uplifting. But that doesn't mean it's not true.
"why use a name like Samuel the Utahnite or quote D&C?"
Critics quote D&C because it is damaging to LDS Inc.
"Utah funding the FLDS has nothing to do with the LDS it is a state matter."
LDS Inc controls the UT State Govt.
Wow, I just came from a post of yours about gambling from about a year ago. You certainly have come a long ways from then until now. I can't say the change has been in a positive direction: "I PROMISE to continue being YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE...".
ReplyDeleteI mean, you call mormon's "cultists", play 'cleverly' on the word mormon by spelling it MORmON, and then you pronounce that one of your goals is to help "to better deal with the pain of their discovery"?
Your blog is entitled "Mormon Truth", do those JibJab Sendables convey truth? No, now you have gone from pointing out your honest but misinformed/malformed arguments to just poking fun.
If you were really after the truth, you would present both sides as an objective argument. You claim the church robs from "children and babies" but do you also point out all the aid and charities that the church contributes to members and non-members around the world.
You served a mission. When you did, you honestly sought to help people live more constructive lives, improve themselves, and have hope. Now you are just mocking those people.
I don't know you. And it is unacceptable for anyone to send anyone hateful or threatening emails. But from my perspective, your "journey" hasn't led you to be kinder, more helpful, or understanding to your fellowmen.
I know it's probably too late for anyone to do anything for you. I just hope to point that if you really want to take a journey, ripping on people and organizations who want to help others is probably not the way to go. People of nearly every faith and most people of no faith still believe that in order to be a successful human, you must learn to understand, tolerate, and respect other humans regardless if they are right or wrong.
All I can say more is wow, just wow: you've come a long way since you left the church.
To Pay Lay:
ReplyDelete"Name a single lie that Sam has written"
Um, one would be that he spells mormon as MORmON. This implies that he believes mormons are morons: a slang term for someone that is stupid.
Can one say that all mormons are stupid? Let's put that in a syllogism:
Mormons are stupid
Joe is a mormon
Joe is stupid
By the laws of logic, this is an invalid syllogism. Invalid syllogisms are rarely truth.
The logic Sam uses is often very malformed like the syllogism above. For example:
Soldiers earn money and they kill people
The church accepts tithing from soldiers.
the church condones killing.
I can see Sam's post: 'the church is such a hypocrite because they accept money from soldiers who kill others yet they teach "thou shalt not kill"'.
Imagine the "hypocrisy" of Moses, who killed an Egyptian and then later, walked down from the mountain with a commandment "Thou shalt not kill". Huh?
You can go on and on about this one topic alone and point out multiple "contradictions" in the bible and the book of mormon.
You can apply the same logic to any organization on this planet: the US government puts in jails hundreds of murderers every year. The US military kills hundreds of people every year. The US government is hypocritical.
You can apply the same malformed logic to your own life: Let's say you own a grocery store. Customers who are drug dealers, theives and murderers may shop at your store. If you are opposed to those practices, why are you accepting money from those types of people?
Futhermore, if you are a hypocrite, it is hypocritical for you to be calling others a hypocrite. Do you see my point?
Now, can you call that type of logic truth? I suppose you can. You can because from a technical standpoint, "truth" is anything that two people can agree on. So if you agree with Sam, I guess you can call it "truth" too.
Nothing this blog is about "truth" or "Freedom". I run a blog too. In my blog I share discoveries about computer programming and software engineering in hopes that others may be able to improve their skills, knowledge, etc.
Finally, consider this logic:
If the LDS Church isn't true, what is?
If none is true, why focus on one little aspect of non-truth? Am I going to become a better father/mother/son/co-worker/etc by reading your blog? I'm certainly not going to be tolerant to other people's beliefs because this blog isn't. Adhering to teaching by the LDS church about the importance of honesty, family, hard work, individual accountability and responsibility is going to help me in my life. Same goes for any organization that teaches those principles.
You rip on an organization that does a lot of good in this world, so what kind of person does that make you?
But whatever, if that's your "truth" you can have it. I'll stick to education and helping others become better.
Dear Samuel,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading through your blog. Unfortunately I think you're mistaken about being the worst nightmare of the LDS Church. They like it when they can upset people enough to write about them. It gives them some exposure (any exposure is good) and makes them feel important.
The rest of the world sees Mormons for what they are: a kooky, looney cult, filled to overflowing with poor, sad, sexually perverted members, which is of no importance whatever.
Come out of Babylon, to steal their phrase. Forget about the Mormons. They are of absolutely no significance. Move on and enjoy life. The best revenge is living well.
hello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
ReplyDeleteKev and IJ:
ReplyDelete"Um, one would be that he spells mormon as MORmON. This implies that he believes mormons are morons: a slang term for someone that is stupid."
Yes, mormons are stupid for believing in things that have been disproved.
"Mormons are stupid
Joe is a mormon
Joe is stupid"
That's completely valid. The conclusion follows the premises.
"Imagine the "hypocrisy" of Moses, who killed an Egyptian and then later, walked down from the mountain with a commandment "Thou shalt not kill". Huh?"
ROTFLMAO!!!
You just used logic (incorrectly) to make an argument and then IMMEDIATELY resort to circular reasoning.
"You can go on and on about this one topic alone and point out multiple "contradictions" in the bible and the book of mormon."
"If the LDS Church isn't true, what is?"
How about empiricism and logic?
"If none is true, why focus on one little aspect of non-truth?"
Becase most ex-mormons are experts on mormonism and not others, like ci
Yes, there are a legion of contradictions in the bible and book of MORmON and between each other.
"You can apply the same logic to any organization on this planet: the US government puts in jails hundreds of murderers every year. The US military kills hundreds of people every year. The US government is hypocritical."
Actually states handle most crimes, including murder. Oh, and the US Government is a completely out of control facist government that needs to be ......
"If the LDS Church isn't true, what is?"
How about empiricism and logic?
"If none is true, why focus on one little aspect of non-truth?"
It's called specialization. Ex-mormons are experts on mormonism, but not scientology.
"I'm certainly not going to be tolerant to other people's beliefs because this blog isn't."
I don't ask for tolerance and there plea that my ideas shouldn't have to compete in the marketplace of ideas.
"You rip on an organization that does a lot of good in this world"
I would argue that the negative effects greatly outweigh what little good it does in the world.
iamtheauthorita:
ReplyDeletei guess you are right because you are the authorita, and I am not.
"Yes, mormons are stupid for believing in things that have been disproved."
let's see if you really are the authority, let's analyze what you just said with a syllogism:
People who believe in disproved things are stupid.
Mormons believe in disproved things
Mormons are stupid.
You are obviously intellegent. Please avoid making stupid statements like that. The minor premis can be applied to everyone since we've all wrongly believed something that has been disproven. Does that make us all stupid?
The syllogism may be valid, but it assumes that the definition of "stupid" is the same as being wrong. If that is your definition, than you are no longer the authorita and am just as stupid as I am.
The syllogism I gave is invalid because it has an Existential fallacy in the major premise: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existential_fallacy . It assumes all members of the LDS church are "stupid". Unless you can prove that *all* members are stupid, the premise is wrong and presumptuous.
"I would argue that the negative effects greatly outweigh what little good it does in the world."
That's a great argument. Would you like to define what you consider "negative effects" on the world?
One more thing on this very "helpful and progressive blog": From the wikipedia article on the word "Cult":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult#Christianity_and_definitions
"If the term [cult] does not enable us to distinguish between a pathological group and a legitimate one, then it has no real value. It is the religious equivalent of the racial term for African Americans—it conveys disdain and prejudice without having any valuable content." -Timmothy Miller
Sam:
ReplyDeleteLet me start off by saying I am not a mormon or as you would have it a MORmON. I came across this blog while doing research for a world religions class.
I must say I don't understand people like yourself. You put so much time and energy into this blog to help others find "the truth". I don't know if you were called a liar, your feelings hurt or made to look stupid but you must really feel wronged by the mormons. It looks to me like they win no matter what you do. As long as you are spending time posting "the truth" then the mormons are taking up the time you could be doing other things. To think you're little blog is doing harm is ridiculous. You might reach a few people but compared to the billions of people in the world you don't matter. My advice is to free yourself and move on. Every religion has shady spots yet each has millions of followers. The great thing about freedom of religion is that we get to choose for ourselves. Choose a new one and get on with your life. I feel sad for you.
To the experts:
It bothers me to have people say they are an expert on mormons, or anything for that matter, just because they were apart of it. I've done my own taxes for years and have worked on my own cars, I guess I'm an expert accountant and mechanic. Get over yourselves.

ReplyDeleteyou said
"I must say I don't understand people like yourself."
Well unless you have been lied to, deceived and manipulated to the same magnitude then you will never understand. Spend a few years being an active Mormon and all that it entails if you really care to and want to understand.
That comment alone shows me your studies of world religion is not very thorough and juvenile at best and I wouldn't waste my time reading it.
I am grateful to SamualTheUtahnite for his efforts to warn and educate others. Alot of is also about personal therapy and healing and he has helped me and many others alot in that process.
From your own words you seem to me like you wouldn't spend time trying to warn/alert others of a lying and deceiving organisation so it shows how little you care about others.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt and consider your ignorance or lack of understanding as the reason for this apparent selfishness on your part and that maybe if you were a victim of such yourself then you might think about and care enough to alert others about it.
I am in contact with a family here in the UK who have come to the realisation that the Mormon church is not what it claims to be and has purposely and knowingly deceived them all their life and the effects are devasting. Your suggestion of simply 'move on' is totally insensitive, baseless, and of no practical help whatsover.
Based on your comment here, not only would I NOT recommend you as a councillor/therapist to people leaving destructive cults, but I wouldn't recommend you to fix anyones car or help with their accounts either. lol
I read the Mormon's comments above and it's laughable because they're just showing how conditioned their thinking is. They regurgitate everything they've been taught to say to the non-believers. And it's always the same stuff. They can't think for themselves. I was once their, i relate. I know their mindsets. But i say, let them live their life in a lie. If that's what they choose to do. Ignorance is bliss as they say. And i am just glad that i don't have to hate anymore since choosing to leave the LDS religion. (No i wasn't offended or angry or did i get into anti literature! Like again, their conditioned to believe as the only reasons people would leave the church.) How about TRUTH. I've done avid research in actual LDS historical documents and it all points to being fraud. But most of the "cattle" in the church just choose to follow the rest of the herd rather then do the research in actual church historical documents that the church doesn't teach you in church or at home. Ignorance is bliss.
ReplyDeletethe morman church is about money sex and lyes after 65 years i have proven to my self that it is not true never was.i like samual the utahnite site along with all the others...it is a cult there is still polygamy being practiced by certian people clled by tom momsen..i am so happy to be out of the cult ...exmonomo said that
